Silt is what the studio leaves behind. Every glaze we test and every workshop we run produces waste, and rather than pour it away we collect it, blend it and bring it back. To take it past flat brown we add red iron oxide and yellow ochre, pushing the colour darker and deeper into something closer to wet earth or river silt.
Because it begins as reclaim, no two batches are exactly alike. Each one is its own small investigation, and the surface shifts with the coat and the clay beneath it.
Brush-on, fired to Orton Cone 6 to 8 (1240 to 1280°C). Sold for decorative and sculptural use. As a reclaim blend its chemistry varies from batch to batch, so we don't make functional or food-contact claims we can't stand behind.
Available in 250ml and 500ml.
