Black Sponge, Round

A dense round synthetic sponge, and the one that does most of the work in a glazing session. It holds less water than a soft natural sponge, which is the point. It wipes a foot ring without flooding the pot, and takes glaze back off a rim cleanly rather than dragging it across the surface.

Also useful for smoothing leather-hard clay and knocking the shine off a seam.

Rinse it before the glaze dries in it. A sponge left loaded sets hard and is finished.
